Abstract
ABSTRACT Nazriyah Mahasiswa Magister Pendidikan Agama Islam (MPAI) Email : nazriyahanakke6@gmail.com The Tahfiz Al-Qur’an program in public schools represents a strategic effort to instill religious values while enhancing students’ interest in reading and competence in memorizing the Qur’an. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Tahfiz Al-Qur’an program at SMAN 2 Tambun Selatan in terms of planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as to examine the extent to which the program improves students’ interest in reading and their competence in memorizing the Qur’an. In addition, this research identifies the supporting and inhibiting factors of the program, explores the relationship between reading interest and memorization competence, and analyzes the program implementation based on George C. Edward III’s policy implementation theory, learning motivation theory, and social learning theory. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research informants included the principal, the head of the Tahfiz program, Tahfiz teachers, homeroom teachers, school committee members, and students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data credibility was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the Tahfiz Al-Qur’an program at SMAN 2 Tambun Selatan has been implemented in a planned, structured, and sustainable manner. The program is carried out through activities such as ziyadah, muroja’ah, tahsin, and tasmi’, accompanied by periodic evaluation mechanisms. The implementation of the program has been proven to increase students’ interest in reading the Qur’an, as evidenced by higher recitation frequency, increased enthusiasm, and the development of intrinsic awareness among students. Furthermore, the Tahfiz program contributes to improving students’ Qur’anic memorization competence in both quantity and quality of recitation. The main supporting factors include the competence of Tahfiz teachers, support from the school and school committee, and a conducive learning environment, while the inhibiting factors include differences in students’ initial abilities, limited time allocation, and technological distractions. From a theoretical perspective, the program implementation aligns with Edward III’s theory, learning motivation theory, and social learning theory.
