Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to examine the effect of personal values and the intensity of social media use on political trust among first-time voters. Political trust plays an important role in supporting democratic processes, particularly for young voters who are newly involved in political participation. This research employed a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis. The participants consisted of 77 first-time voters selected using Cochran’s formula. The instruments used were the Political Trust Scale, the Personal Values Scale, and the Social Media Usage Intensity Scale. The results showed an R Square value of 0.063, indicating that personal values and social media usage intensity contributed 6.3% to political trust. The F-test result (F = 2.489; p > 0.05) indicated that the model was not statistically significant. Thus, personal values and social media usage intensity did not significantly influence political trust among first-time voters.
