Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has brought a significant impact on the world of education, including the learning process of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). However, in reality, PAI learning is still dominated by lecture-based methods, making students passive and less motivated. This condition leads to a low level of understanding among students regarding PAI materials. Therefore, this study aims to determine the influence of technology-based learning media Quizizz on improving students’ understanding in Islamic Religious Education subjects at SMAN 1 Tambun Utara. This media is expected to create an interactive, enjoyable, and competitive learning atmosphere, thereby enhancing students’ motivation and comprehension of Islamic values. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method, involving two classes: the experimental class using Quizizz and the control class using conventional learning methods. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using t-tests (Paired Sample T-Test and Independent T-Test) with the aid of SPSS version 27.0. In addition, the findings were compared with several previous studies that demonstrated the effectiveness of Quizizz in enhancing learning outcomes and student engagement. The diversity of these prior findings strengthens the relevance of testing this media in the context of Islamic Religious Education at the senior high school level. The results revealed a significant difference between the mean scores of pre-test and post-test in the experimental class compared to the control class. The increase in the average understanding of students in the experimental group indicates that the use of Quizizz media has a positive impact on students’ comprehension of religious concepts and the application of Islamic values in daily life. Therefore, it can be concluded that Quizizz is an effective and innovative learning medium to enhance the quality of Islamic Religious Education, making it more engaging, participatory, and meaningful.
