Abstract
This study aims to describe the principal’s strategy in enhancing teacher professionalism, identify the challenges faced, and analyze the impact of such strategies on the development of teacher competencies at SDIT Al-‘Arabi, Bekasi Regency. The research is based on the urgency of the principal’s role as a strategic leader in fostering professional teachers based on four core competencies: pedagogical, personal, social, and professional. A qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving key informants: the principal, vice principals, curriculum coordinator, and teachers. The results reveal that the principal integrates Islamic spiritual values with modern educational management strategies. These strategies include daily spiritual routines, reflective supervision, pedagogical training, the reinforcement of teacher learning communities, and active teacher involvement in instructional evaluation. Challenges encountered include time constraints, varying levels of teacher motivation, limited use of digital-based mentoring tools, and underdeveloped external networking. Nevertheless, the strategies have positively influenced teacher professionalism in a holistic manner—both in improving competencies and fostering a collaborative and religious school culture. The study concludes that successful enhancement of teacher professionalism is strongly influenced by the principal’s leadership that harmonizes values, strategy, and contextual needs. Further improvement is needed in documenting strategic policies, digitizing mentoring programs, and establishing external partnerships to ensure long-term sustainability.
