Abstract
Adversity Quotient (AQ) is the intelligence to deal with difficulties and life challenges, which is crucial for students in today’s competitive era. The low level of AQ among vocational high school (SMK) students in Tambun Selatan District indicates the need to examine related contributing aspects. This study aims to determine: (1) the relationship between learning discipline and students’ adversity quotient, (2) the relationship between learning motivation and students’ adversity quotient, and (3) the relationship between learning discipline and learning motivation collectively with students’ adversity quotient in vocational high schools in Tambun Selatan District, Bekasi Regency in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study employed a quantitative correlational research method. The sampling technique used was random sampling, with a total sample of 384 students. Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire and processed using SPSS 27 for Windows, employing correlation tests, determination tests, simple regression, and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study show that: (1) there is a significant positive relationship between learning discipline and adversity quotient with a correlation value of r = 0.555, a determination contribution of 30.8%, and a regression equation of Y = 67.091 + 0.565X₁ (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). (2) There is a significant positive relationship between learning motivation and adversity quotient with a correlation value of r = 0.501, a determination contribution of 25.1%, and a regression equation of Y = 83.249 + 0.460X₂ (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). (3) Simultaneously, learning discipline and learning motivation significantly positively correlate with adversity quotient, with a correlation value of R = 0.672, R² = 45.1%, and a regression equation of Y = 28.016 + 0.469X₁ + 0.358X₂. The Ftest result was 151.363 with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. Based on these findings, this study recommends strengthening discipline and enhancing learning motivation programs to improve the adversity quotient of vocational high school students.
