Abstract
This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension ability of grade 3 students of SDN Bojong Rawalumbu IV Bekasi. Identification of problems encountered by researchers Students have not been able to capture the contents of the reading, Students have not been able to summarize the contents of the reading by finding the main idea in each paragraph, Students have not been able to answer questions about the contents of the reading, Students have not been able to retell the contents of the reading with their own sentences with coherent language. This study aims to improve reading comprehension skills through the Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic (VAK) learning model assisted by pop up book media. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles. The subjects in this study were 24 grade 3 students.. The research method used is the classroom action research (CAR) method. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle includes the planning, implementation, assessment, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 24 students of grade 3 of SDN Bojong Rawalumbu IV Bekasi. Data collection techniques used performance tests and observation sheets. The classical success indicator is at least 80% of the total number of students who achieve a score of ≥ 75. Data collection instruments included written tests, observation sheets, and documentation. The research results indicated an improvement in students’ reading comprehension abilities in each cycle. In the first cycle, the students' average score was 71, with a classical completeness rate of 50%. After conducting the actions in the second cycle, the average score increased to 91, with a classical completeness rate of 96%. These results show that the implementation of the VAK learning model assisted by pop-up book media can significantly improve the reading comprehension skills of third-grade students in Bahasa Indonesia subjects.
