Abstract
This research is based on the problem of low reading comprehension skills of grade IV students in the Indonesian language subject at SD Islam Ummul Quro Bekasi. The problems that occur include: (1) students are not yet able to understand the contents of the story text that has been read, (2) students still have difficulty in determining the main idea of the paragraph, (3) students' ability to summarize the contents of the story text is still low, (4) students are less able to understand the meaning of difficult words, (5) students' low skills in making conclusions from story texts, and (6) students' low skills in explaining the message contained in the story text. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of students' reading comprehension skills through the application of the Reading Guide learning model in grade IV of SD Islam Ummul Quro Bekasi. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. The subjects in this study were 30 students, 15 female students and 15 male students. The data collection technique in this study used a written test. The success criteria in this study was 80%. The results of this study indicate that in cycle I the completion reached 50% with an average value of 75 and in cycle II the completion reached 86% and an average value of 83. This shows an increase in reading comprehension skills using the Reading Guide learning model by 36%. It can be concluded that the Reading Guide model can improve reading comprehension skills in Bahasa Indonesia subjects in grade IV of SD Islam Ummul Quro Bekasi.
