Abstract

This research is motivated by the main problem of mathematics learning in elementary schools, namely the low problem-solving ability of students in mathematics, especially in the material of Time Unit story problems. This can be seen from students who have not been able to determine what is known and asked, still have difficulty in determining formulas, have not been able to solve problems correctly, and have not been able to conclude the results of the answers. This study aims to improve mathematical problem-solving abilities by using the Means Ends Analysis (MEA) model in grade III students of SDN Mustikasari IV. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), consisting of two cycles with 18 students as subjects. Each cycle included four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection used a written test. The success criterion for this study was 100%, with a predetermined Minimum Competency (KKM) score of 75. Based on the research results from each cycle, the classical percentage increase in cycle I was 67% with an average value of 76, and for cycle II it was 100% with an average value of 89. The percentage increase in problem-solving ability from cycle I to cycle II increased by 33% in the Mathematics subject of class III of SDN Mustikasari IV.
