Abstract

Early adulthood is a critical phase for identity formation and social relationship building, particularly among university students. This research focuses on self-disclosure behaviors of students who actively use social media platform "X," often in the context of loneliness. The study aims to explore the impact of extraversion personality on self-disclosure and the relationship between loneliness and this behavior. Utilizing a quantitative approach, 130 subjects were selected through simple random and quota sampling, with data collected via validated psychological scales. Results indicate a significant negative relationship between loneliness and self-disclosure (r=−0.263; p<0.003), accounting for 10% of the variance. In contrast, extraversion personality shows a strong positive relationship with self-disclosure (r=0.560; p<0.000), explaining 29.1% of the variance. These findings suggest that while loneliness affects self-disclosure, extraversion personality is a more influential factor among students on social media.
