Abstract

This study aims to examine self-esteem and life satisfaction in relation to Fear Of Missing Out (FoMO) among students at Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi. Fear Of Missing Out (FoMO) is a condition in which individuals experience constant anxiety and worry, feeling that they are being left behind by others. FoMO behavior is also characterized by a constant desire to connect with others. This study involved 354 employees and used a quantitative approach. The measurement tools used included the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (RSES) to measure self-esteem, the Life Satisfaction Scale, and the Fear Of Missing Out (FoMO) Scale. Data were analyzed using Spearman's rank correlation test and simple linear regression. The results of the study showed that self-esteem has a significant influence on Fear Of Missing Out (FoMO) (r = 0.110; p = 0.038). Meanwhile, life satisfaction showed no significant influence on Fear Of Missing Out (FoMO) (r = -0.028; p = 0.603). The regression test also showed that self-esteem contributed 1.8% to Fear Of Missing Out (FoMO) (β = 0.504; p = 0.013). These findings indicate that self-esteem is one of the factors that can influence FoMO behavior among students at Islamic University 45 Bekasi.
