Abstract
Therapeutic communication is generally carried out by health workers to cure patients or clients. However, therapeutic communication can be applied by teachers who teach non-formal education. The presence of teachers can improve the development of Down syndrome children physically and mentally by attending talent interest classes at the Potads Foundation. They will get training in various fields such as motor, thinking ability, language, and emotional. So the purpose of this study is to determine the therapeutic communication of teachers with children with down syndrome in talent interest classes at Potads. This research uses qualitative type with descriptive method. Data processing is done through observation, interviews, and documentation. This research produces findings based on therapeutic communication on the developmental aspects of children with Down syndrome and hones their verbal and non-verbal communication, while also being able to improve public perception and acceptance of children with down syndrome. In addition, this topic still requires deeper attention to be studied. Keywords: Down syndrome children, Teachers, Therapeutic communication, Verbal and non-verbal communication, Development.
