Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the influence between family harmony and self-esteem on smoking behavior. This study was conducted at SMKN 2 Bekasi City. The design of this study used a quantitative method, with 156 class XII students as research subjects. The sampling technique in this study used simple random sampling. Data collection methods were carried out through interviews and psychological scales. The measurement instrument used a family harmony scale made by the researcher himself with a reliability of 0.948, a self-esteem scale made by the researcher himself with a reliability of 0.842, a smoking behavior scale made by the researcher himself with a reliability value of 0.950. The results of this study show that there is a significant influence between family harmony and smoking behavior (r = -0.390, ρ = 0.000, 2-tailed), there is a significant influence between self-esteem and smoking behavior (r = -0.260, ρ = 0.001, 2-tailed) and through multiple regression analysis techniques the results were obtained (Sig. F = 0.000, R Square 0.645) which means that family harmony and self-esteem can contribute to smoking behavior by 64.5%. Keywords: family harmony, self-esteem, smoking behavior
