Abstract
Dimas Zulfikar 41182191200006, "The Influence of Mental Toughness on Anxiety Competition Among Running Athletes in Bekasi City." Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Islamic University "45" Bekasi. This study aims to analyze the influence of mental toughness on anxiety competition among running athletes in Bekasi City. The research method used is a quantitative approach with simple regression analysis. The research sample consists of 100 running athletes in Bekasi City selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using the Mental Toughness Questionnaire (MTQ48) and the Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT), both of which have been tested for validity and reliability. The statistical calculations show that the mean value of mental toughness is 91.4, with a standard deviation of 7.49, the highest score being 101, and the lowest score being 69. Meanwhile, anxiety competition has a mean value of 17.2, a standard deviation of 3.04, with the highest score being 22 and the lowest being 12. The results indicate a significant negative relationship between mental toughness and anxiety competition, with a correlation coefficient of -.251 and a significance level of 0.012. This suggests that the higher an athlete's mental toughness, the lower their level of anxiety competition. Conversely, athletes with lower mental toughness tend to experience higher levels of competitive anxiety. Regression analysis also reveals that mental toughness accounts for 62.8% of the variance in anxiety competition, while the remaining 37.2% is influenced by other factors not covered in this study. Based on the research findings, there is a significant negative relationship between mental toughness and anxiety competition among running athletes in Bekasi City. The higher an athlete's mental toughness, the lower their competition anxiety, and vice versa. The regression analysis confirms that mental toughness contributes 62.8% to anxiety competition, with the remaining 37.2% influenced by external factors. Therefore, strengthening mental toughness is a crucial aspect in reducing competition anxiety and enhancing an athlete's performance during competitions.
