Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of variation in the use of learning models during learning activities, especially in mathematics subjects. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of using the group investigation learning model on the understanding of mathematical concepts in VI students at SDN Mekarsari 08, Tambun Selatan District. The research method used in this study is an experimental method with a quasiexperimental research design. This study involved an experimental class and a control class, where the experimental class was treated using the group investigation learning model, and the control class used the student teams achievement division learning model. The data analysis techniques used in this research are Normality Test, Homogeneity Test, and Hypothesis Test assisted by the data processing application IBM SPSS Statistics version 29. The results of the research are as follows: 1) The use of the group investigation learning model in the experimental class resulted in an average score of 90,20, where the average score before the application of the group investigation learning model was 75,40, showing an increase of 14,8. 2) The use of the student teams achievement division learning model in the control class resulted in an average score of 82.70, where the average score before the application of the student teams achievement division model was 73,95, showing an increase of 10,13. 3) There is a significant difference between the use of the group investigation learning model and the student teams achievement division learning model on the understanding of mathematical concepts in sixth-grade students, with a significance value (sig. 2tailed) of < 0.001, which is smaller than (<) 0.05.
