Abstract
This research was motivated by the low reading comprehension ability of students in Indonesian language subjects in class V MI Al Huda. The problems that can be seen are: 1. The Indonesian language score in class V is still the lowest compared to other classes and subjects. 2. Students have difficulty understanding the meaning of difficult words, 3. Students have difficulty answering questions about the content of the reading, 4. Students have difficulty in making conclusions, 5. Students are unable to tell the content of the reading in their own sentences. The aim of this research is to determine the increase in reading comprehension abilities through the Know, Want To Know, Learned (KWL) model in class V students at MI Al Huda Bekasi. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of 2 cycles, with subjects containing 34 students and each cycle consisting of 3 meetings. Data collection in this study used written test data collection techniques. The success criteria in this research is 80% with a KKM value of 75. The results of this research show that the increase in reading comprehension ability, namely in cycle 1 classical completeness was 47% with an average value of 77 and in cycle II classical completeness increased to 85% with an average value of 88. This shows that there is an increase in ability reading comprehension using the Know, Want To Know, Learned (KWL) model was 38%. Thus, it can be concluded that the Know, Want To Know, Learned (KWL) learning model can improve reading comprehension skills in the Class V Indonesian language subject MI Al Huda.
