Abstract

The importance of supportive parenting patterns and emotional regulation skills in shaping assertive individuals. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of authoritative parenting patterns and emotional regulation on assertive behavior. This study used quantitative techniques. The subjects in this study were students at SMK AL - MUSLIM with an age range of 16 - 19 years. The sampling technique used saturated sampling with 110 subjects. The data collection method in this study used the RAS (Rathus Assertiveness Schedule) assertive behavior scale, the authoritative parenting pattern scale, and the ERQ (Emotion Regulation Questionnaire) emotional regulation scale. The results showed that there was no relationship between authoritative parenting patterns and assertive behavior with a value of r = -0.045 p = 0.639. There was a positive relationship between emotional regulation and assertive behavior with a value of r = 0.259 p = 0.006. The results of multiple linear regression tests show the influence of authoritative parenting and emotional regulation on assertive behavior with a value of (F = 5.454; p < 0.006). The coefficient ( R ) is 0.304 with an adjusted value of ( R2 ) of 0.076, which explains that authoritative parenting and emotional regulation both contribute 7.6% to assertive behavior, while the remaining 93.4% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study.
