Abstract

Lack of self-esteem and lack of support from peers can potentially cause a person to have difficulty in acting assertively. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of self-esteem and peer social support on assertive attitudes in vocational school students. The results show a significant relationship between self-esteem and assertiv This research uses quantitative techniques. The subjects in this study are students. This study uses population research by taking the entire population of 110 students. The data collection technique in this study uses a psychological scale, namely self-esteem scale, peer social support and assertive behavior The results showed a significant relationship between self-esteem and assertive behavior with values (r = 0.345, p<0.000). There was a significant relationship between peer social support and assertive behavior with a value of r=0.190, p=0.047. The results of the multiple regression test showed the influence of self-esteem and peer social support on assertive behavior with a value of (F = 4.916; p < 0.009) The determination coefficient (R2) was 0.084, which explained that self-esteem and peer social support both contributed 8.4% to assertive behavior, the remaining 1.6% was influenced by other variables Keywords: Self-esteem, Peer social support, Assertive behavior
