Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of the low mathematical problem solving ability of fifth grade students of SDN Pengasianan IX. The problems are; Students have not been able to determine what is known and asked from the problem posed, students are still confused in determining the formula to be used, students are unable to solve the problem correctly, students cannot conclude back to the solution steps that have been made. In overcoming these problems, the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) model is applied which aims to improve the mathematical problem solving skills of class V SDN Pengasinan IX. The research method used, Classroom Action Research (PTK) consists of 2 cycles, with subjects totaling 33 students and each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. Data collection in this study used written test data collection techniques. The success criteria in this study are 100% with a KKM score of 75. The increase can be seen from the increase in the average score obtained by students by 16 from the average in cycle I with a score of 75 and the average in cycle II with a score of 91. Furthermore, the increase in the percentage of classical completeness by 33% from the percentage of completeness in cycle I 67% and cycle II 100%. Thus it can be concluded that the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) model can improve the problem solving ability of fifth grade students of SDN Pengasinan IX.
