Abstract

Adolescents who have difficulty recognizing and expressing emotions so that they experience psychological problems will have the potential for Alexithymia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of emotional intelligence and insecure attachment on Alexithymia. This research is a quantitative research. The subjects in this study were male students in grades 7-9 of Martia Bhakti Junior High School totaling 230 students. The data collection method in this study used psychological scales, namely the Toronto Alexithymia Scale with an Alpha Cronbach reliability value of 0.843, emotional intelligence with an Alpha Cronbach reliability value of 0.901, and ECR- R-GSF with an Alpha Cronbach reliability value of 0.880. The results showed there was a low but significant negative influence between emotional intelligence on Alexithymia with a Spearman Rank value of r = -0.399; p < 0.000. Furthermore, a strong positive relationship is significant between insecure attachment to Alexithymia with r = 0.696; p < 0.000. The results of the simple linear regression test of emotional intelligence showed results of 33.2% while insecure attachment showed results of 49.2% on Alexithymia.
