Abstract

This research was motivated by the low reading comprehension skills of students in Indonesian language subjects in Class III of SDN Karang Rahayu 04, Karang Bahagia District. This can be seen from the results of observations made by researchers, namely, students have not been able to explain the explicit or implied content of the reading, students still have difficulty finding the main ideas contained in the text, students have not been able to explain the content of the text in their own sentences, and students have difficulty compose a summary. The aim of this research is to improve the reading comprehension skills of class III students at SDN Karang Rahayu 04. The method used in this research is classroom action research (PTK) which consists of 2 cycles. Each PTK activity cycle consists of four main activity stages, namely planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. The subjects in this research were Class III students at SDN Karang Rahayu 04, Karang Bahagia District with a total of 23 students, including 11 male students and 12 female students. Meanwhile, data collection in this research used collection techniques in the form of tests and observations. The criteria for success in this research is if 80% of the total number of students achieve a minimum score of 75. Based on research results which show that there is an increase in students' reading comprehension skills in each cycle. As proven in the first cycle, students' reading comprehension ability obtained an average score of 78.8 and students who met the KKM score were 54%. Then in cycle II students' reading comprehension ability increased with an average score of 88.7 and students who met the KKM score were 85%. This research was terminated because it had reached the target classical completeness score of 80% in the aspect of reading comprehension in Indonesian subjects. In this way, Serial Image Media can improve reading comprehension skills in Indonesian language subjects for Class III students at SDN Karang Rahayu 04 Kecamatan Karang Bahagia Kab.Bekasi.
