Abstract

This study aims to examine and find out the various journals according to inclusion criteria, making it a suggestion for new research, as a solution to problem solving in improving early reading skills in elementary school students. This research was motivated by the low initial reading skills of elementary school students, this is proven from journal reviews and field observation results, including that there are still many students who are not yet fluent and precise in reading, students cannot pronounce vocabulary words correctly, students have difficulty recognizing letters, their vocabulary is still lacking, and they are less able to understand the text they read. The research method used is systematic review or Systematic Literature Review (SLR), using the PRISMA method (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) which is performed systematically through the stages of defining eligibility criteria, defining information sources, selection of literature, and evaluation. data collection, and selection of data items. Results obtained after analysis according to inclusion criteria are 15 journal articles published 2017-2023, with the keyword "Media Big Book" "Startup Reading Skills" "Elementary School Students". From the results of journal analysis, researchers classified in three aspects, i.e. a) based on research methods in 15 journals, 11 journals using the Class Actions Research (PTK) method, 2 journals using the Quasi Experimental method, and 2 journals using the Literature Review method, b) based on analysis of early reading skills indicators, c) based on the published year of the study, which is the last 7 years (2017-2023). From the research results conducted by researchers, the recommendation given by the authors for further research in applying media big books in learning is by providing media big books for each group.
