Abstract

The availability of internet access is expected to improve the academic performance of university students. However, a number of senior students at Universitas Islam "45" Bekasi use campus internet for cyberloafing, negatively impacting their academic achievements. This research aims to explore the relationship between conscientiousness personality traits and academic stress levels with cyberloafing behavior among senior students at Universitas Islam "45" Bekasi. The research sample consists of 304 senior students. The measurement tools used are the cyberloafing scale, Big Five Inventory Conscientiousness (BFI), and a Likert scale academic stress scale. Data analysis was conducted using Spearman rank correlation test and simple linear regression. Hypothesis testing using the Spearman Rank correlation produced the following findings: in the first hypothesis, no significant relationship was found between conscientiousness and cyberloafing (r= -0.053, p= 0.361 (> 0.05)). However, in the second hypothesis, a strong and significant relationship was found between academic stress and cyberloafing (r= 0.461, p= 0.000 (< 0.05)). The third hypothesis was tested with simple linear regression using SPSS version 26 for Windows, and the results showed that academic stress influences cyberloafing (B= 0.440, p= 0.000 (< 0.05)), with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.170, meaning that academic stress contributes 17% to cyberloafing behavior, while the remaining 83% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.
