Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between growth mindset and parental social support with grit in students working on their thesis at Islamic University "45" Bekasi. The research utilizes a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The research subjects are students currently working on their thesis at Islamic University "45" Bekasi. The population consists of 1661 individuals and the sample size is 322. The sampling technique employed is proportionate stratified random sampling. Data collection is carried out through interviews and psychological scales. Reliability testing is done using the Alpha Cronbach technique, resulting in values of ralpha = 0.846 for the grit variable, ralpha = 0.827 for the growth mindset variable, and ralpha = 0.904 before item deletion & ralpha = 0.915 after item deletion for the parental social support variable. The research results use the Rank Spearman correlation test. In the first hypothesis variable, there is a significant positive relationship between growth mindset and grit. In the second hypothesis, there is a significant positive relationship between parental social support and grit. In the third hypothesis, there is a significant influence of both growth mindset and parental social support on grit, with a coefficient of determination of R2 = 0.305. This indicates that 30.5% of the variability in grit is influenced by the three variables studied, while the remaining 69.1% is attributed to other factors.
