Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students, especially for mathematics lessons. This can be seen from the low percentage of classical student learning completeness in the Final Semester Test (UAS) score which is only 9 out of 36 students (22.5%). This study aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes through a Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach for grade IV students of SDN Wanasari 12 material for Bangun Datar Semester II of the 2022/2023 academic year. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR), with the subject of research for grade IV students of SDN Wanasari 12 totaling 36 students. The research design used the Kemmis and Mc Taggart models. This research is carried out in two cycles and each cycle consists of two meetings. Each cycle is carried out with four stages, from planning, execution, action and reflection. Data were collected by observation techniques and tests. The success of this study is that at least 80% of the total students achieve the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) ≥ 80. The results showed that the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach can improve mathematics learning outcomes in the cognitive realm of grade IV students of SDN Wanasari 12. In the first cycle, students who achieved KKM scores were 21 students (58%) with an average score of 75. In the second cycle, students who achieved KKM scores increased to 30 students (83%) with an average score of 91. By looking at the data, it can be concluded that the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach can improve student learning outcomes.
