Abstract
In building a group or community, a social identity formation is needed to make an identity or identity for the community itself. However, in the name of the Super Preman community which was formed in 2013 in the city of Malang, East Java, which is the object of this research, there is a figurative meaning which contains negative elements in it which can lead to the formation of unfavorable community assumptions. The basic process of forming social identity, namely Social Identification, Social Categorization and Social Comparison. This study aims to determine how the identity formation of the Super Preman community. In this study using descriptive qualitative methods by conducting interviews and observations. The result of the research shows that the Preman Super community is a figurative name which means the Independent Woman, the Source of Change, which focuses on Handicraft activities. Super Preman is a community that has an important role for women to channel their talents and interests and hone their potential. The Super Preman Community provides training to its members, including training on handicrafts , cooking and the arts. The impact of the existence of the Super Preman community brings significant changes in terms of creativity and skill development, the Super Preman members are also more competent in their respective fields because the members are given training by related agencies in collaboration with the Super Preman community.
