Abstract

The increasing use of the internet among college students raises the risk of Problematic Internet Use (PIU), particularly among senior students who face various academic demands and changes in their social lives. This study aims to examine the relationship and influence of loneliness and social support on problematic internet use among 316 senior students at Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s rank correlation and multiple linear regression. The results indicate that loneliness is significantly positively correlated with problematic internet use, whereas social support is not correlated. However, loneliness and social support together have a significant effect on problematic internet use, accounting for 30.9% of the variance (R² = 0.309).
