Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and social comparison with depressive tendencies in students of Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi. This study used a quantitative correlational method with 340 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected through psychological scales, namely the depressive tendency scale/BDI-II, self-esteem scale/RSES (r= 0.878), and social comparison scale/INCOM (r= 0.770). Data analysis techniques included Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. The results showed a significantnegative relationshipbetweenself-esteemand depressivetendencies(r= -0.497; p= 0.000) and no significant relationship between social comparison and depressive tendencies (r= 0.017; p= 0.749). Simultaneously, self-esteem and social comparison influenced depressive tendencies by 24.2% (R2= 0.242; F= 53.784; P= 0.000).
