Abstract

This study aims to determine the value of character education, which can be taken from the biography of Umar bin Khattab by Ali Muhammad Ash-Shallabi and to find out its relevance to Islamic Religious Education. This reseach is a qualitative study with a library reseach approach. The primary sorce is a biography of Umar bin Khattab by Ali Muhammad Ash-Shallabi, and secondary source are taken from several books ang jornals relevant to this research. The data collection technique in this study uses documentation and data analysis technique using content analysis. The results of the study show that the character education values contained in the biography of Umar bin Khattab include 13 character education values, namely: religious, honest, tolerant, disciplined hard work, creative, independent, democratic, appreciating achievement, friendy/communicative, peach loving, social caring, and responsible. The value of character education is very relevant to Islamic Religious Education, namely in terms of faith, sharia and morals in Islamic Religious Education.
