Abstract

Abstract This study explores the voting behavior of Generation Z first-time voters in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in Tambun Selatan Sub-district, Bekasi Regency. The main issue addressed is how Gen Z voters, who are digitally savvy and critical, shape their political behavior while still being influenced by social factors. The purpose of this research is to examine the tendencies of Gen Z voting behavior and the factors influencing their political decisions. This study employs a qualitative method with a constructivist paradigm and descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with first-time voters, election organizers, and independent observers. The findings reveal that Gen Z’s political behavior is shaped by structural, sociological, ecological, psychological, and rational factors. Social media plays a central role in shaping political opinions, while political education and family environment also significantly influence decision-making. Gen Z tends to be rational voters, making decisions based on candidates’ vision-mission, track record, and program relevance to their needs, although social influences remain present. This research concludes that Gen Z’s participation represents vital social capital for strengthening local democracy in Bekasi Regency.
