Abstract
This study aims to determine how the Friday Quran reading program improves students’ Quran reading skills at SMA Negeri 1 Tambun Selatan. This research was motivated by the problem of some students not yet fluent in reading Quran, requiring the participation of schools, teachers, and structured religious programs to help overcome this obstacle. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative research. Data collection uses interview, observation, and documentation methods. Data validity is ensured by comparing information obtained from various sources. Data analysis is carried out using an interactive analysis approach, which includes the stages of data collection, data reduction, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that: 1) The Friday Quran Recitation program is a Quran recitation activity carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Tambun Selatan. This activity is held every Friday morning from 07.00 – 07.40 a.m. and is attended by all students from various grade levels. The implementation of the Friday Quran Recitation Program includes several activities, namely: reciting the Quran together, chanting the names of Allah together, lectures/sermons, and closing with a prayer. 2) The Friday Quran Recitation Program has had a significant positive impact on improving students’ ability to read the Quran. Before the program was implemented, many students were still not fluent in reading the Quran. However, after regular practice through the Friday Quran Recitation activity, which is held every week, accompanied by the support of the morning Quran recitation program, students’ ability to read the Quran has improved. 3) Supporting factors in the Friday Quran Recitation program are: a) Support from parents. b) Support from teachers’ council. c) Support from alumni. d) Support from the school. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are: a) Reduction in teaching hours. b) Limitied facilities and infrastructure. c) Lack of readiness among students to participate. d) Lack of motivation among students. e) Lack of interest from students.
