Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the Civics Education (PPKn) subject, as indicated by the lack of participation in class discussions and limited understanding of national values and civic responsibilities. Therefore, the researcher considered it necessary to implement a more effective teaching strategy that actively engages students in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to improve student learning outcomes in PPKn through the application of the cooperative learning model of the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) type in Grade IV at SDN Telajung 1 Setu. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, following the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 35 fourth-grade students of SDN Telajung 1 Setu. The instruments used in this study included learning outcome evaluation tests and documentation. The success indicator was determined by an improvement in classical learning outcomes, with a target of 100% of students achieving a Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) score of 75. The results of the study showed that implementing the STAD cooperative learning model significantly improved student learning outcomes in PPKn. In the first cycle, student mastery reached 60%, and increased to 100% in the second cycle. Additionally, students became more active in group activities and demonstrated greater responsibility in completing tasks collaboratively. Thus, the application of the STAD model proved effective in enhancing learning outcomes and student engagement in Civics Education at Grade IV of SDN Telajung 1 Setu.
