Abstract

Obligation dan Necessity Pada Siswa Kelas VIII Al-azhar Syifa Budi Legenda Legenda The purpose of this study is to determine the understanding of grade VIII students about the meaning and use of the words Obligation and Necessity. The method used is semantic analysis through data collection from individual assignments and interviews with 15 students. The results show that most students understand the basic meaning and usage of both words well, although there are errors in their usage, such as confusion between "Must" which is related to obligation. Factors such as language background, cultural influences, and daily experiences also affect students' understanding. In addition, students have difficulty in distinguishing the concepts of "Obligation" and "Necessity" in a more complex context. This research is expected to be a reference for teachers in developing more effective teaching strategies. Keywords: Semantics, Obligation, Necessity.
