Abstract
This study aims to determine the strategy of the Environmental Service in controlling water pollution in the Cilemahabang River which has been polluted for years and requires serious handling by the Government. This is because river water is one of the sources of life that can be managed by the community to meet household needs such as washing clothes, washing household appliances, some people also use river water for bathing. The researcher analyzed the formulation and implementation of the Environmental Service in controlling water pollution in the Cilemahabang River. This study uses a qualitative method. Data collection was carried out using interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Data sources came from 4 informants including the Head of the Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Section, the P2KL Task Force, Environmental Activists, and the Community around the Cilemahabang River. The results of this study indicate that the Environmental Service has been trying to control water pollution in the Cilemahabang River. However, the Government has not yet made a policy or legal product that regulates the control of water pollution in the Cilemahabang River, so far the Environmental Service has only relied on the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry which is not focused on the Cilemahabang River. The strategy that has been carried out by the Environmental Service in Controlling Water Pollution of the Cilemahabang River has been running well but is not yet optimal when viewed from the condition of the Cilemahabang River which is currently still polluted by industrial waste and household waste.
