Abstract
The city of Bekasi has contributed to rapid changes in various urban systems, including transportation. One of the transportation issues is traffic congestion at intersections, such as the signalized intersection at Rawa Semut in Bekasi. This study aims to evaluate, identify, and propose scenarios to improve the performance of the APILL four-arm intersection at Rawa Semut in Bekasi. The research uses a quantitative approach based on the 2023 Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (PKJI 2023). According to the research findings, the performance of the signalized intersection at Rawa Semut on Cut Mutia Road in Bekasi can be optimized using the PKJI 2023 method. The evaluation results of the Rawa Semut intersection at Cut Mutia Road and Sersan Aswan Road currently experience congestion during peak hours, with a Delay Junction (DJ) value of 1.243 and Level of Service (LOS) category F, resulting in vehicle delays of 252 seconds due to late flows, low speeds, volumes below capacity, and frequent stops. Therefore, alternative changes were made to the approach lane widths and signal timing. After implementing these changes, the Rawa Semut intersection experienced a decrease in DJ value to below 0.85, aligning with PKJI 2023 standards, and an improved LOS with a delay time of 39.7 seconds in category D, approaching stable flows and lower speeds.
