Abstract
Water demineralization is carried out using cation anion resin to filter dissolved mineral ions so that the water is mineral free and has a low ppm. The demineralization process needs to be carried out because dissolved minerals in water will gradually concentrate or increase in concentration, which will cause scaling. Encrustation occurs due to problems in the water demineralization process, one of the causes is that the anion and cation resins experience saturation so that the filtering process for excess mineral ions is not optimal. Therefore, it is necessary to activate anion and cation resins. Generally, currently the resin activation process is still carried out manually and there is the possibility of delays resulting in the anion resin and cation resin becoming saturated so that the demineralization process becomes less than optimal. Therefore automation is needed, to design automation it is necessary to design an on-off control system. After designing the on-off control system, the result is that there is no delay in activating the anion and cation resin because when the ppm value of the water does not decrease for 5 seconds or a predetermined time, the resin activation system process will work. Based on the TDS sensor test results, the sensor accuracy was found to be 99% and it was declared suitable for use as a water ppm measuring tool and for the accuracy of the 12V DC water pump in supplying water or HCL and NaOH liquids faster than the calculation time based on the pump specifications.
