Abstract
A Lathe machine is a type of machining tool used to cut rotating objects. Its significance in metalworking industries is immense, as it is capable of shaping and machining cylindrical and hollow objects, such as creating shafts. The turning process involves the workpiece being rotated, and the cutting tool is applied to it through translational movement according to the rotational axis of the workpiece.. However, achieving a perfectly smooth surface for components is challenging in practice. Based on the aforementioned aspects, the aim of this research is to determine the cutting parameters in the turning process to produce tool vibrations and surface roughness. The focus is on investigating the influence of cutting parameters on tool vibrations and surface roughness in the turning process of ideal aluminum A 6061. The research findings indicate that a machine rotation speed of 132 rpm, a cutting depth of 1.5mm, and a feed rate of 0.3 mm/s result in a tool vibration value of 2.7 mm/s. Meanwhile, the obtained surface roughness level is 1.138 μm. It is observed that as the torque generated increases, so does the friction force, leading to a higher surface roughness value in the material.
