Abstract
ABSTRACT In making a furnace, the material used is ASTM A36. When welding the risk of cracking or breaking is very large so that it has an impact on changes in the mechanical properties of ASTM A36 material, therefore. Analysis of the Effect of Current Variations on SMAW Welding ASTM A36 Materials on Hardness and Microstructures that crack or break welded joints is needed so that we understand better in terms of tackling when installing Furnaces into a single unit using ASTM A36 material. From welding research by comparing welded joints of ASTM A36 material which is welded by welding using a current of 80, 90 and 100 Ampere, filler E 6013 with a diameter of 2.6 mm then hardness test and metallography tests are carried out. From the results of research that has been carried out on experimental welding of ASTM A36 material with 80 amperes, the hardness value for Base Metal is 13.27 HRC, HAZ is 17.21 HRC and on Weld Metal is 20.21 HRC, while with 90 amperes the hardness value is obtained. on Base Metal of 13.43 HRC, HAZ of 14.77 HRC and on Weld Metal of 18.78 HRC. Meanwhile, with 100 amperes, the hardness on Base Metal is 16.34 HRC, at HAZ is 18.76 HRC and Weld Metal is 21.6 HRC. 90 amperes obtained ferrite and ledeburite and 100 amperes contained ferrite and ledeburite the greater the current used, the smaller the porosity microstructure.
