Abstract

In accordance with Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning the Election of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, Mayors and Deputy Mayors, the General Election Commission (KPU) as the organizer of the Regional Head Elections has developed and prepared a strategy to reduce the number of abstentions in the Regional Head Elections. Year 2024 in Bekasi City. In the Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in previous years there were still many Bekasi City residents who did not exercise their right to vote (abstentions) and community participation in Regional Head Elections in Bekasi City from year to year has not reached the national target of 77.5%. This shows that the level of public awareness in Bekasi City is still lacking in democracy, for this reason, the Bekasi City Election Commission is preparing and preparing a strategy for the Regional Head Elections in Bekasi City so that the Pilkada in 2024 will reduce the number of abstentions in the Bekasi City community. The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the KPU's strategy in reducing abstentions in the 2024 Regional Head Elections in Bekasi City. Researchers in this case examine using the constructivism paradigm with qualitative research methods accompanied by a case study research approach. As for data collection techniques: observation, in-depth interviews, literature study, and documentation, as well as taking informants with purposive sampling technique. The results of the study stated that the General Election Commission's (KPU) strategy in reducing abstentions in the 2024 Regional Head Elections was in accordance with the desired strategy which consisted of goals, policies and plans to be realized, then from the realized strategy the Bekasi City KPU had realized several one of the activities is by carrying out socialization and voter education in schools. This was done in order to increase public awareness of the importance of coming to the polling stations (TPS) to use their voting rights in the 2024 Regional Head Elections (Pilkada).
