Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the role of Islamic religious education teachers in developing the emotional and spiritual intelligence of students at SMA Negeri 1 Setu. The focus of the problem to be studied is; 1) The role of Islamic religious education teachers in developing students' emotional and spiritual intelligence at SMA Negeri 1 Setu. 2) What are the supporting and inhibiting factors of Islamic religious education teachers in developing students' emotional and spiritual intelligence at SMA Negeri 1 Setu. This research is a qualitative research, the research was carried out with the stages of preparation, implementation and completion. The subject of this research is the role of the teacher. Data collection techniques using the method of observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques use three main components, namely, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. From the results of the study it can be seen that the role of Islamic religious education teachers at Setu 1 Public High School in developing students' emotional and spiritual intelligence includes as follows; a) Teacher as facilitator b) Teacher as mediator c) Teacher as motivator d) Teacher as evaluator. The supporting factors in growing students' emotional and spiritual intelligence are as follows: a) Infrastructure that supports developing emotional and spiritual intelligence. b) Good cooperation between PAI teachers and other teachers. c) school activities that support teachers in developing students' emotional and spiritual intelligence. However, there are also inhibiting factors in the development of students' emotional and spiritual intelligence. Namely, the lack of student awareness of religious activities. So that every time the activity of students must be reminded many times to be able to take part in these activities. The results of the study explained that the role of the PAI teacher in developing the emotional and spiritual intelligence of students at SMA Negeri 1 Setu was very good.
