Abstract

This research is motivated by the ability to think critically in science in elementary schools which is still not optimal. This study aims to examine and find out the description of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model in improving critical thinking skills in the science subject of elementary school students. Based on the results of the journal analysis, it was found that the problem of critical thinking skills in science of elementary school students was classified as low. This can be seen from the many student scores that are still below the KKM, students are not focused, have difficulty analyzing problems, and students are still embarrassed to express their opinions. One way to overcome this problem is with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model to improve critical thinking skills in science subjects for elementary school students. The type of research used in this research is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) research. This research was conducted by collecting data in the form of journals related to the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model to improve critical thinking skills in science subjects of elementary school students. The results of the analysis of 14 scientific articles were analyzed based on the last 6 years (2016-2022), with the keywords Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model, Critical Thinking Skills, Science Subjects, Elementary School Students. From the results of analysis of journals or scientific articles, researchers classify them into 3 aspects, namely: 1) Based on Research Methodology, 2) Based on Journal Area, 3) Based on Aspect Indicators of Critical Thinking Ability. It can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model is very effective for improving students critical thinking skills in science subjects, so that students become active, the learning atmosphere becomes fun, and more meaningful.
