Abstract
A solar water heater or solar water heater (swh) is a device used to heat water by utilizing solar energy. This type of water heater greatly saves costs, performance and energy. Meanwhile, heaters that use electricity or gas require a monthly fee. This study aims to determine how much influence the thickness of the riser pipe has on the collector efficiency of solar water heaters. The method used is direct testing of the water heater collector with pipe thicknesses of 0,5 mm, 1 mm and 1,5 mm by recording changes in the water temperature of the inlet and outlet pipes on the water heater collector. The data obtained from the test results is then calculated by comparing the useful power of the collector with the incoming solar radiation power. The results showed that the efficiency values of the pipe thickness of 0,5 mm, 1 mm and 1,5 mm respectively were 34%, 47% and 57%. Changes in pipe thickness have a significant effect on increasing the efficiency of the water heater collector. Where the change in pipe thickness from 0,5 mm to 1 mm resulted in an increase in efficiency of 38,23%, from 1 mm to 1,5 mm there was an increase in efficiency of 21,27%, and from 0,5 mm to 1,5 mm an increase in efficiency of 67,65%.
