Abstract
Embankment work in construction projects requires effective utilization of heavy equipment to achieve project targets within the planned time and cost. This study aims to analyze the productivity, effectiveness, working time, and operating costs of heavy equipment used in the embankment work of the MH Thamrin Road Rehabilitation Project, Lippo Cikarang. The analyzed equipment included an excavator, dump trucks, and a vibratory roller by comparing planned and actual productivity through field observations, data collection, productivity calculations, effectiveness analysis, and evaluation of heavy equipment utilization. The results showed that the planned productivity of the excavator was 62.47 m³/h, the dump truck was 2.60 m³/h per unit, and the vibratory roller was 247.51 m³/h. Meanwhile, the actual productivity obtained in the field was 65.28 m³/h for the excavator, 2.64 m³/h per unit for the dump truck, and 243.26 m³/h for the vibratory roller. The evaluation results indicated that all equipment was considered effective because the actual productivity was able to meet the minimum productivity requirement of the embankment work. Based on the re-planning analysis, the equipment configuration was adjusted by maintaining one excavator and one vibratory roller, while increasing the number of dump trucks from 15 units to 17 units to support material transportation from the quarry to the project site. The results indicate that optimization of heavy equipment utilization can be achieved through evaluation of actual productivity and adjustment of equipment composition according to project requirements. Factors affecting equipment productivity include quarry hauling distance, traffic conditions, weather, material conditions, equipment operating efficiency, and coordination among equipment during construction activities.
