Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of fermentation duration on biogas production from cow manure waste using a floating biodigester system with an effective capacity of 439.4 liters. The research used an experimental method through a 30-day anaerobic fermentation process without a microbial starter, utilizing 123.1 kg of substrate with a 1:1 water ratio. The results indicated that biogas production began on the 23rd day. Optimal production reached its peak between days 26 and 28, achieving the highest volumetric efficiency of 5.1%. By the end of the 30-day period, the maximum drum height increase was 3.4 cm, with a total biogas volume of 0.4556 m³ and an average daily production of 0.0152 m³/day. The resulting gas pressure of 1,643.24 N/m² sustained a stable blue flame for 34 minutes and 37 seconds, indicating high methane content. Energy analysis showed a total input of 86.2 MJ and an output of 16.3 MJ, resulting in an energy conversion efficiency of 0.135%. It is concluded that fermentation duration significantly influences the quantity and quality of the biogas produced.
