Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning motivation of some students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and the importance of extracurricular activities in shaping students’ character and learning attitudes. One extracurricular activity that plays a role in character building is Scouting. This research aimed to determine the effect of participation in Scouting extracurricular activities on students’ learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education at SMAN 1 Babelan. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consisted of all students who participated in Scouting activities at SMAN 1 Babelan. The sampling technique used was random sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire using a Likert scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used was simple linear regression by comparing the value of t_countand t_table. The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of participation in Scouting extracurricular activities on students’ learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education. This was proven by the value of t_count>t_table, so the research hypothesis was accepted. The higher the level of student participation in Scouting activities, the higher their learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that scouting extracurricular activities not only play a role in shaping students’ character but also contribute to increasing their learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education.
