Abstract
Fitria Yuliani NPM 41182911210007 Islamic Religious Education Learning Methods in the Independent Curriculum at SMAN 1 Tambun Utara Islamic Religious Education Faculty of Islamic Studies, ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY 45 BEKASI (2025 M/1447 H) This research is motivated by the importance of improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning so that it not only conveys knowledge but also shapes students' character and competencies in accordance with Islamic values. The Independent Curriculum provides teachers with the flexibility to design creative, active, and relevant learning activities. However, field practice shows that some teachers still rely on conventional methods such as lectures, resulting in suboptimal student engagement. This study aims to describe the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning methods in the Independent Curriculum at SMAN 1 Tambun Utara and analyze the obstacles faced by teachers. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through learning observations, interviews with PAI teachers, the curriculum vice principal, and 11th-grade students, as well as documentation of teaching materials and school policies. The analysis was conducted inductively through data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that Islamic Religious Education teachers utilized various methods, such as interactive lectures, group discussions, question-and-answer sessions, demonstrations, problem-based learning, and project-based learning. The application of varied methods helped increase student interest, understanding, and participation, while also connecting the material to everyday life. Obstacles identified included time constraints, teachers' lack of understanding of innovative strategies, and differences in student motivation and abilities, which necessitated the application of differentiation.
