Abstract

ABSTRACT Title: The Implementation of Character Education through School Resilience and Tahfidz Al-Qur’an Programs in Enhancing Religious Values at SMA Al Azhar 22 Cikarang, Bekasi Regency Author: Syahrul Gunawan Affiliation: Graduate Student of Islamic Education (MPAI) Email: gunawansyahrul1677@gmail.com This study aims to examine the implementation of character education through the School Resilience Program and the Tahfidz Al-Qur’an Program in enhancing the religious values of students at SMA Al Azhar 22 Cikarang, Bekasi Regency. The background of this research stems from the increasing moral and spiritual challenges faced by the younger generation in the era of globalization, characterized by rising deviant behavior, declining religious awareness, and weak internalization of religious values in daily life. This research adopts a qualitative approach using descriptive methods, involving observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the implementation of both programs has contributed positively to the development of students’ religious character. The School Resilience Program promotes discipline, responsibility, and a conducive educational environment, while the Tahfidz Al-Qur’an Program enhances students’ spirituality through memorizing, understanding, and practicing the teachings of the Qur’an. Nonetheless, several obstacles were identified, including students’ inconsistency in religious practice, limited parental involvement, and the adverse influence of social environments and digital media. The study concludes that the success of religiously-oriented character education is highly dependent on the synergy among teachers, schools, families, and the wider community. Therefore, comprehensive implementation strategies, ongoing teacher training, and a strong school culture that upholds religious values are essential.
