Abstract
Supplementary Feeding (PMT) is an activity of providing food to toddlers in the form of safe and quality snacks along with other supporting activities by paying attention to aspects of food quality and safety. And contains nutritional value that is in accordance with the needs of the target. This study aims to identify the role of midwives in communication counseling on Supplementary Feeding (PMT) for toddlers at Posyandu Kenari 2, Wanajaya Village. PMT counseling is a strategic effort to increase maternal awareness of the importance of nutrition to support toddler growth and prevent stunting. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach to determine the role of midwives, posyandu cadres, and related parties in delivering information, and implementing PMT. The results of the study showed that midwives play a role as the main supporters through emotional, instrumental, informative and social network support. In addition, nutritional counseling is carried out through stages of sensitization, publicity, education, and motivation involving interactive communication approaches and the use of media such as brochures and WhatsApp groups. Active participation from mothers of toddlers and collaboration between midwives and cadres have proven effective in improving the nutritional status of toddlers.
