Abstract
Education is the best investment to advance the nation, because education has a role to prepare human character in facing global challenges. Currently, there are many character problems. For that, character education values are important to be instilled to produce people with character who can overcome moral decline. Currently, technology is sophisticated, films can be used as a medium to instill character education values in society. One of the popular Islamic animated films from Malaysia on YouTube is the animated film "Omar and Hana". There are character education values in this animated film that are relevant to Islamic education. In addition, in each episode of this animated film presents simple and easy-to-understand songs, usually at the end of the song, excerpts of verses from the Qur'an and Hadith are included to strengthen the message conveyed through the song. So that animated films can be used as a medium to instill character education values. This study aims to: (1) determine the character values in the animated film Omar and Hana, and (2) determine the relevance of character education values and Islamic Religious Education values in the animated film Omar and Hana. This research used a qualitative approach with a type of library research. This research focuses only on 5 episodes in the animated film Omar and Hana. Data collection uses documentation techniques by using content analysis techniques to analyze the contents of the dialogues, events, characters, and settings in the film. The results of the study show that: (1) There are 7 values of character education in the animated film Omar and Hana, namely religious values, tolerance, curiosity, hard work, environmental care, social care and responsibility. (2) The value of character education found in animated films is relevant to the values of Islamic Religious Education. (3) There is a relevance between the values of character education and the values of Islamic Religious Education in this animated film. The value of religious character is relevant to the value of faith. Religious character values and social care are relevant to sharia values. Religious character values, tolerance, hard work, curiosity, environmental care, social care, and responsibility are relevant to moral values.
