Abstract

Dating violence among adolescents is often unnoticed by the victims, even though it has serious psychological impacts. This study aims to determine the influence of self-esteem and interpersonal communication on dating violence among students. The research used a quantitative correlational method with a quota sampling technique involving 100 female students from grades 10 and 11 at SMK YADIKA 13. The instruments were psychological scales with the following reliability scores: self-esteem (α = 0.909), interpersonal communication (α = 0.927), and dating violence (α = 0.936). Data were analyzed using Spearman correlation and simple regression. The results showed that self-esteem had a significant influence on dating violence (p = 0.025), while interpersonal communication had no significant influence (p = 0.907). Therefore, only the first hypothesis was accepted.
