Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between athletes’ self-efficacy, physical self-concept, and anxiety among pencak silat athletes. The study involved 105 male and female AMS Fighter athletes aged 13 to 17 years. Data collection was conducted through interviews and questionnaires. Athletes’ self-efficacy was measured using the Athlete Self-Efficacy Scale (ASES) developed by Calik Veli Kocak (2020), physical self-concept was measured using the Physical Self-Description Questionnaire (PSDQ) developed by Herbert W. Marsh et al. (2010), and anxiety was measured using the Sport Anxiety Scale–2 (SAS-2) developed by Smith, Smoll, Gross, et al. (2006). The results of the study indicate a negative relationship between athletes’ self-efficacy and anxiety, with a correlation coefficient of –0.501 and a significance level of 0.000. Similarly, the relationship between physical self-concept and anxiety also showed a negative correlation, with a coefficient of –0.335 and a significance level of 0.000. Furthermore, both self-efficacy and physical self-concept were found to have a significant simultaneous effect on anxiety among pencak silat athletes.
